Catastrophe Hurricane Hilary Hits US, No Victims of Indonesian Citizens The Consulate General geoverment of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI). Los Angeles confirmed that no Indonesian citizens (WNI) would become victims of Hurricane Hilary which is said to be going to bring havoc when it hits California.
“Thank God, so far there have been no reports of our Indonesian citizens/diaspora being victims of Hurricane Hilary yesterday,” said the Protocol and Consular Consul of the Indonesian Consulate General in LA, Dewi Ratna Asih, to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (22/8).
Apart from that, Dewi also said that activities in Los Angeles have returned to normal as per the day before.
Even so, the local government is still issuing warnings at certain points affected by flooding, such as Palm Springs, Coachella Valley and Cathedral City.
AFP reported that the disaster forced local authorities to close roads, schools and businesses in the area.
According to a Reuters report, the flash floods occurred in the San Gabriel Mountains east of Los Angeles and northwest of Ventura County. Town around the resort of Palm Springs have also been hit hard.
In Cathedral City, of the flood also submerged residents houses up to the thighs of adults.
Even so, there were no reports of casualties in the disaster.
